We believe that the first step in becoming a disciple is to be “free indeed.” Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32 NIV).An Encounter Weekend is a short course in freedom - freedom from habits, bondages, bitterness, wrong thoughts, and past mistakes. At the Encounter, the Lord will set you free through the power of the cross.
Who will be there?
Each Encounter is led by a Spirit of Life leader or staff member with a group of trained assistants. Men attend Ironman Encounters, and women attend Sister Chick Encounters.
Where is the Encounter Retreat held?
Spirit of Life Encounters are currently held at Camp Warren in the Decatur area. Pick up an information packet at the Welcome Center or click here to register for the next dates.
What is the schedule for the Encounter?
Encounters generally run from a Friday evening until noon the following Sunday. Participants meet at the church and arrive at the designated retreat. Opening session and activities start at 6:00 p.m. A Pre-Encounter class is held a week prior to the retreat. Sessions continue throughout Saturday and until service time on Sunday. At that time, participants join the weekend service at Spirit of Life church for a celebration service. Meals, books and lodging are included at a cost of $120. ($110 before Sept 1st) |
